Feedback from participants at AM circle sessions:

Excellent session - plain speaking, no waffle, knowledgeable, approachable. Learned about 'misconceptions', Es and Os and I felt it empowered me to move forward on assessment. This was the best CfE session I have attended ... ever! Thanks, I enjoyed the session. The ethos of the session promoted learning and interaction that enhanced learning.

Secondary PT

I’ve learned more in the last hour and a half than I have over the last year and a half!

Secondary PT

Great wallops of common sense, which is exactly what I need at this time.

Secondary PT

It’s all starting to make sense.

Secondary PT

Far clearer about what is expected in terms of assessment for CfE. Very much appreciated/enjoyed/found very informative Myra Young's talk.

Secondary teacher

Myra Young was a very good speaker who explained clearly the need for moderation starting at the planning stage. Would be good for other staff members to hear Myra deliver talk.

Primary teacher

I found this session extremely enriching and worthwhile. Thank you. Looking forward to the next two months.

Secondary teacher

An excellent session. Myra had a very relaxed manner and helped staff to clearly identify the requirements of moderation.

Secondary PT

How to look at the Es and Os in detail. How to plan assessment into courses. I found this really useful.

Secondary PT

The afternoon has been quite enlightening.

Secondary teacher

Really enjoyed the session. Thank you.

LA Quality Improvement Officer

Very useful in making assessment regarding CfE much clearer.

Secondary teacher

I thought the discussion was useful in terms of clarifying assessment terminology. Helped developed a more consistent approach to understanding. Encourage pupils to take more notice over learning intentions and outcomes and their next steps in learning. Increased awareness of validity and reliability = dependability, to ensure confidence in professional judgement.

AifL – not exactly what I expected – my understanding has changed. Thought traffic lighting during peer assessment was AifL l but I didn’t do anything with them…
Firming up the difference between some of the terms that could cause confusion. Assessment f&s [formative and summative] in terms of thinking some forms of summative assessment are actually being formative/analysis with pupils for tests, prelims, projects.
Sharing of success criteria/learning intentions between faculties enabled the differentiation between these terms.

Gave me a clearer understanding of assessment and being specific.

It was an interesting reflective day examining our current practice and establishing our next steps.

Very useful to consider planning in relation to ‘I can’ statements/activities; feedback for challenge; focus on literacy/numeracy; space to participate in collegiate discussions and professional dialogue.

This afternoon’s session was useful in consolidating areas of assessment; it was useful to gain an insight of practice in other departments; clearer understanding of terms and how to make life easier but keep the value of feedback.
